Participatory public performance with Jesse Pearlman Karlsberg and the Society for a Subliminal State hosted by the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art.
Held outdoors in the waterfront park and other public spaces. Passersby are invited to experience the never seen before event through personal hijacking of the small meatless meatballs (compliments Trader Joe's). Visitors can now experience the collision first hand as it is videotaped anew.
History:
Sunday, October 9th, 1992, a meteorite went through the roof of a red Chevy
Malibu owned by a local high school student in Peekskill, New York. The only
witness was a blind woman who lived next door. Peekskill police contested
"it must have been a very strong man". While across the country, football
games were being videotaped by fans, at least twelve of which tilted their
cameras up to the sky capturing the asteroid mid tragectory. Upon hitting
the Earth's atmosphere the asteroid broke apart, but one chunk lodged in the
Knapp's driveway. People scattered to find pieces of the first asteroid to
be caught multiple times by camera before hitting the earth. The multiple camera views and locatable destination
(Michelle Knapp's car) allowed for astronomers for the first time to trace the trajectory of the Asteroid from path to finish
People are still in search of additional video footage and for pieces of the very expensive rocks from outer space
HERE is a picture of the Peekskill meteorite Before it was broken apart and sold. The car still tours the country.
